IN THE SPIRIT #3
(ONE
WOMAN'S SPIRITUAL JOURNEY)
"One
of the reasons that churches exhort their people to be "born again"
is that this will postpone forever the necessity of their growing
up."

FLOOD
TIDE:
I
was giving some thought to what seems to be overwhelming (albeit invisible)
wall of "something" that is sweeping forth. The words that come
to mind are: "collective consciousness." I think of a vast
amount of water rushing forth and toppling aside all obstacles in its path.
Are
we "hell-bent" for destruction? The mass consciousness tends
toward vulgarity; crudity - in language, dress, and behavior. The modern
attitude seems to be: "Do not ask me to come up higher in my
behavior.
You
come down to my level and make me feel comfortable." The new
mantra: "Mediocre is the new "norm."
I
read in Scripture where Jesus cleansed a demonic man (one overwhelmed with
putrid thoughts) and sent the vibrational energy into
a herd of swine. The "pigs" became so agitated that they
plunged over a cliff to their destruction.
Agitated,
earth-bound thoughts do, indeed, drive us to destruction, cause depression, and
make us hunger for surcease. Good news - those who hunger for
'righteousness' (right thinking) can be filled. (Matt. 5:6)
Soul
hunger, therefore, must be a necessary step in the motivating force that gets
us to a desired point. If the energy is not of the highest and best - we
just might topple off a cliff.
Is
there not, then, beauty in the word, "Denial?"
How
does one stop a fierce flood-tide? Sand bags and dykes are temporary
measures. (And in a popular commercial - chewing gum.) :o)
The
force eventually pushes forth.
But
the direction can be changed - diverted - by creating new outlets; new streams
of thought and action.
I
see this happening. The "new" is opening new rivulets to
something different. The old will crumble (as it always has) and be swept
away.
(Ouch,
to us who are somewhat attached to the mysteries and beauties the ancients
bestowed upon us.)

SHARING
THE PLANET:
I
saw a man in the check-out line at the grocery store who
had obviously come upon hard times. He was unkempt, unshaven, and
definitely unwashed. He was buying supplies. My human self hoped he
had included a bar of soap.
God
is everywhere - in all - through all.
I
do not know the man's circumstances, and it is not for me to judge, but
as a fellow being inhabiting the planet, one can compassionately hope he
will be o.k. (and may be led to wash away the dirt and debris of his present
experience.) (It would be an act of compassion for those who must smell
his choices in life.)
It
makes one wonder, on an invisible vibrational level,
what etheric "odors" we exude by our
unloving thoughts?
Something to think about.

Free
Will:
Everything
is not in Divine Order at all times, but is our "rightful"
place; the result of our free will choices and the law of cause and effect.
Everything
can be in Divine Order. That is our "True" place - the
one God would will for us. (Yet not force us, as we are not puppets.)

THE
SECRET - A VISION: WOW!
And the Lord said to me, "Write your dreams on a billboard,
large and clear, so that anyone can read it at a glance and rush to tell
others. But these things I plan for you won't happen right away. Slowly,
steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If It
seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!"
Habukkuk 2:3

THE
SKY GODS ARE SAYING "BOO."
My
little dog, "Boo" (Buddufius), is very
afraid of thunder. Today the heavens opened up. Sure enough, he was
right under my feet seeking protection from what he must perceive as
"those fierce, noisy sky gods that roar at him."
It
occurred to me how much like "Boo" we humans are. We cower and
feel threatened by earth bullies who like to roar and
thunder; Big-mouthed people who want to give us "a piece of their
mind" when, sakes alive, they need every tiny scrap of their mind for
themselves.
All
along I know "Boo has nothing to fear. It's only noise (and a lot of
hot air). He is safe in the house with me, sitting at my feet - or
in my lap - or by the cabinet - or under the bed.
Sometimes
in life, those "noisome pestilences" (Psalm 91:3) occur.
They roar at us; hope to make us feel threatened and insecure.
All
along, in spite of "the sound and the fury" of earthly appearances,
we are safe in "God's House." (Just as "Boo" is safe in
mine.)

THE
COAT-RACK:
Now
it sits in the Community Room at church. It once belonged to my paternal
grandfather. Sat in a farmhouse. When my
grandfather left this earth in 1976, it then was passed to my father. My
father kept his appointment to cross over in 2004 at the age of 96. Thus
it descended to me, and I am sharing it with the church people.
It
is just a wood "thingy" with metal protrusions for hanging garments,
but it is sturdy and steadfast like my dad.
I
understand (through the family grapevine) that my grandfather had a problem
with his libido (it was. . . . . .high and
active) and he pursued many women. He and my grandmother
divorced (understandably) before I was born. Both remarried - eventually.
Ahh - but
the coat-rack. It has seen many things; is at least 100 years old. Probably older. Now it witnesses church pot-lucks and my
Wednesday night study class (collards and all).
What
a transformation; from simple farmhouse service
to my deep, mystical somewhat intense lessons.
What,
I wonder, would a coat-rack think (assuming it had a brain)? What stories
could it tell? Would it say: "What a looney. Such new-era psychobabble. And she from a
long line of fundamentalist, Nazarene preachers. Holy Moley!"

EVEN
A BUZZARD CAN FLY HIGH
Even
a buzzard can fly high, but he keeps his vision low to find - and
feast upon - the earth's dead.
Words
of Wisdom from the Master: "Let the dead bury the dead."
(Matt. 8:22) (Or look for the dead, or eat the dead, or roll in (wallow)
in dead stuff, or beat dead horses.)
What
a lesson in life! (And living.)
My
observations:
We
can wallow in the slop,
Or
we can clean it with a mop.
When
your sights are set too low,
The
blessings of God cannot flow.
If
you want to be in the Flow,
You
must let go of what you think you know.

THE
ZERO:
In
numerology it means "nothing." One can only add digits and
reduce them to a single number.
But
in actual life, how important is that "nothing." Add it to
monetary figures, and the "nothing" means
"something." Added to numbers, it increases the inherent amount
by tens; hundreds; thousands; and millions. (And more)
That
little zero, that "nothing," boosts the power of the original number
to - infinity.
That
little zero that is a symbol for GOD!
